A Chip Resetter is a First Aid Kit!
Resetters are available for the 1400, 1800, 1900, 4800, 4880 & 7880.Chip resetters are considered a "first aid" kit for anyone using 3rd party cartridges in an Epson inkjet printer. Epson does not make cartridges that have only black ink (dye) to load into every slot of your inkjet. Any cartridge that is not an Epson cartridge is called a 3rd party cartridge (or non-genuine). To help yourself stay up and running when a non-Epson cartridge is in play there are a few options available. Since Epson would like to maintain as much of the market as possible 3rd party cartridge manufacturers have to stay ahead of the curve. A chip resetter is a tool to do just that - along with extra sets of ink cartridges. Production makes you money - not downtime - so have all the tools for success. This very inexpensive and reusable tool may never be needed or it may save you from a day or more of downtime. Since no one can know in advance if/when a chip will not set or stop reading having a "quick resolve" is worth its "weight in gold". Not all resetters are created equal. Some just reset the ink counter on the chip fooling the printer into believing the cartridge has more ink in it. This is fine if you are using a refillable bulk ink system, but if your cartridge chip fails then a Resetter that actually reprograms the chips memory and the ink count is not only better, it's best. A cheap chip resetter that just resets the ink counter will not resolve the issue of a chip that is not recognized by the printer. If a chip resetter does not work after several tries you may have a chip that is truly damaged. Check with your distributor for replacement of cartridges that are still within the warranty period. Most of the time the resetter saves the day. Freehand makes it mandatory that with a FIRST-PURCHASE of an All Black Ink System a resetter is also purchased. If your distributor did not discuss this great tool, simply contact us to help get one ordered through your reseller. Disclaimer: A chip resetter supplied by/sanctioned by from Freehand Graphics is designed to work with the All Black Ink or Black Max cartridge systems. It is not guaranteed to work with other 3rd party cartridges. Sorry, no returns on chip resetters. |

More Inkjet Tips...
Have a full replacement set of All Black Ink cartridges - or - Epson color cartridges on-hand for your Epson Inkjet model. Why? Epson hardware is designed to stop printing when just one cartridge is reading empty. Don't be caught without ink. Set in a new cartridge and get back to work. What if it's an Epson color cartridge but you use an All Black system? Just turn off the "color cartridge slot" in the AccuRIP Setup Menu / Multi-black feature (not suggested for Epson 4800 and 4880 users because they hold ink in the lines - contact Freehand)...
