RipCore

RipCore connection issue.

When a user sees the "Can not connect to RipCore" error it simply means their PC has not started the Local Service called RipCore.

1. Users of older AccuRip version should update to the latest version using the "trial download" installer located at www.accurip.net . The trial installer will update all installs of AccuRip serialized and trial.

2. Restart your computer, Windows should start the RipCore service automatically.

3. To activate the RipCore service manually follow the directions below:

3a. XP users click on the Start Menu and locate and launch RUN. Type "services.msc" and from the list select RipCore then click "start"

3b. Vista and Windows 7 users click on the Start Menu/Program Files/Accessories/RUN. Type in "services.msc" and from the list select RipCore then click "start"

4. Launch AccuRIP.

AccuRip

Purchase Serial Number

Issue: error (-25) or any number higher than (5,000) after you type in the serial number appears.

Resolve: This can be a "wireless" network issue. Check your signal strength or use an ether net cable to establish a solid Internet connection. AccuRIP is attempting to register the serial number.

Issue: Invalid Serial Number / not accepted by AccuRIP

Resolve: check that you have typed the code correctly. Codes do not use letter (O's) in any code only number zeros. Be sure you have the prefix "ACCURIP-" before the groups of letters and numbers.

Trial Unlock Code

Issue: some users do not see their trial unlock codes via e-mail

Resolve: check that you submitted the proper e-mail address and also check your "junk mail" folder. If you do not receive an e-mail after 30 minutes please contact Freehand for support. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Error Messages - Apple Users

Error: No Epson drivers on the computer.

Issue: Mac version does not see Manufacturer installed driver: Some users that by pass the AccuRIP SETUP WIZARD and use the manual SETUP feature get a message saying there are no Epson drivers on the computer.

Resolve: The Mac version of AccuRIP builds its very own driver so a manufacturer driver is not needed. This is ok.

Error Messages - Windows Users

Issue: Windows Driver Error when building driver in Setup Wizard or during manual setup.

Due to Vista's new UAC security some users receive an error when building an AccuRIP driver. ERROR Codes 5, 3 and 2 users -or- any .dll Error encountered when AccuRIP is building the driver can be quickly fixed with the latest AccuRIP Build located on this web site (www.accurip.net).

Known Issues

AccuRIP does not OPEN (appear on screen)
WINDOWS

Issue: The program never appears, but the Task Manager says AccuRIP is running in the background. The user interface does not appear on screen.

Resolve: There is a Firewall software holding back AccuRIP. From the Task Manager (Control, ALT, Delete) end the AccuRIP process. Open your Firewall software and add AccuRIP as a "trusted" program or temporarily turn off the Firewall to prove this is the issue.

Reason: AccuRIP is built using TCP so Internet firewall software may wish to control its launch.

Wizard keeps appearing each time I launch AccuRIP:

Issue: Every time I launch AccuRIP the Setup Wizard thinks I want to build a driver.

Resolve:

  • Enter the Wizard then cancel once it finds your printer, do not complete the Wizard. Open the Setup feature File Menu>SETUP then click the OK button.
  • Upgrade to the newest version of AccuRIP for FREE. Download the trial version from www.accurip.net and use it to upgrade any version, no questions asked.

AccuRIP shows a connection Error:

Issue: CONNECTION ERROR after printing. When I print, AccuRIP goes from Ready to Paused and I see a "connection error" at the bottom of the AccuRIP program window.

Resolve: check your printer connection cable, make sure the printer is turned on and that your computer recognizes the printer.

AccuRIP is Paused:

Issue: AccuRIP is PAUSED. Located at the lower left corner of AccuRIP it says Paused. This can happen if the user manually pauses the RIP or a connection error has occurred.

Resolve: Click the Green triangle PLAY button icon in AccuRIP or choose RESUME from the Job Menu.

Vertical streaks on films:

Issue: long vertical streaks on the right side of the film. Looks like bar codes.

Resolve: the media size in AccuRIP and your page size in your graphics program "print window" do not match. Advised to download a FREE upgrade at www.accurip.net Use the trial version to upgrade your present version, no questions asked – it will auto update seamlessly.

The newest release of AccuRIP has a great feature that auto adjusts the media size based on the "page/document size" set in the properties of your graphics program.

Horizontal streaks on films:

Issue: evenly spaced thin horizontal streaks print on film.

Resolve: using the Epson software (not AccuRIP) run a "nozzle check" and perform a head cleaning if needed. Next, if you are using a non-waterproof film and running at lower resolutions upgrade your film to a waterproof brand. The streaks are due to the films inability to generate quality results at lower resolution with a proper amount of ink. Other RIP software "flood cover" films making non-waterproof film seem good, but the over-saturated (dot gain) results make poor quality films and prints. AccuRIP deposits the right amount of ink to make proper films so use the proper media.

This is most common with Epson 3000 users that are switching over from other RIP's and are still using non-waterproof films. Using better films and a proper RIP (AccuRIP) will be a major step up in quality and speed.

Films Print Light, not enough density:

Issue: films will not burn a screen properly (light density, looks like "tinted sun glasses").

Resolve:

  • Check that you are using the proper ink to film combination. There are Dye inks and Pigment inks and they are formulated to work with specific films.
  • Increase the "Droplet Weight" in AccuRIP's SETUP window. File Menu>SETUP.

Films Print Heavy (over saturated):

Issue: films come out of the printer wet.

Resolve:

  • Check that you are using the proper ink to film combination. There are dye inks and Pigment inks and they are formulated to work with specific films.
  • Decrease the "Droplet Weight" in AccuRIP's SETUP window. File Menu>SETUP.

Garbled Postscript data is printing out:

Issue: no images are printing just long lines of code are being printed on the film.

Resolve: the printer driver has been corrupted or the "port" assignment to the driver has been changed. Delete the "AccuRIP to Epson" driver and the "Epson driver". Disconnect the USB cable from the computer, wait 10 seconds and plug it back in. Once the computer has built a new driver, use AccuRIP's SETUP to build a new "AccuRIP to Epson" driver. Be sure you have the proper USB ports selected when using Windows. Mac handles this automatically.

No ink is on the film – print head is moving:

Issue: the print head moves back and fourth, the film advances but there is no image being printed.

Resolve: using the Epson software run a "nozzle check" and perform a head cleaning if needed. The RIP is sending the data to the printer properly, the printer knows it has ink, but a clog is preventing the system from spraying.

Nothing is Printing, Copy 100% in PRINT Queue:

Issue: there is only one file in the AccuRIP print Queue and under "Processing Status" it says COPY 100% rather than RIP 100%. File is stuck.

Resolve: delete the file in the print Queue, close AccuRIP, restart your computer and try again.

* Windows users may wish to check the "Epson Stylus" driver print Queue. If there are files in that window, delete them before restarting the computer. A file has become stuck in the OS and it is preventing other files from flowing to the printer.

Mac users just clear the AccuRIP print Queue and restart the computer.

Windows 7 Install

Issue: Windows 7 Authentication Invalid Error

Reason: Windows 7 upgrades may experience a change in their system registry file that causes AccuRIP to display the error (authentication invalid).

Resolve: Click here to download the file: InvalidAuthFix.reg.zip. Next, double click the file to run and update the registry, restart your computer and launch AccuRIP.

Spot Process VueRite

User Manual

A full user manual is included with each download and located in the VueRite program/application folder. This manual is filled with facts and features as well as workflow concepts. Please take the time to review before using the trial.

At Freehand we don't like "Trial and Error", we prefer "Trial and Success".

Trial Expired

A Spot Process trial can be used only once per computer so if your computer’s clock has changed, had Spot Process / VueRite on your computer over 30 days, or used all 30 of your uses you'll have to either make a purchase or request a trial extension - a one time offer that last for 15 days or 15 uses. Trial Driver Updates

Mac and PC trial diver updates can be found at www.paceap.com
Download the proper "Interlok" driver for your operating system.

Windows Vista Users

All Vista users should "right click" on the VueRite program icon and choose "run as administrator".

Reason - Vista has multiple layers of administration control (UAC). Choosing "run as administrator" ensures all the rights to run a trial software. Between doing this and having the proper Interlok driver installed Spot Process VueRite trial runs well on Vista 32 and 64 bit.

Trial Software - Apple

Issue: the trial is not available for the Leopard OS.

Resolve: The purchased version (dongle controlled) is available to try with a 30-Day Money Back Guarantee. This allows every user the opportunity to know that Spot process VueRite is the best color separation software.

Issue: some Tiger OS users experience trouble saving a file with the trial version due to certain "rights and permissions".

Resolve: create a "root" login space and operate the trial from that login. Since the "root" has no restrictions you can easily grab files from any folder in any login space (see instructions below).

*The full dongle version can be worked from any login space with any Apple OS. (10.2 through 10.5)

How to create a "Root" login space:

Known Errors

Issue: upgrade window appears when I open a TIFF:

Resolve: upon startup Spot Process VueRite looks for the USB dongle. If not found it opens as VueRite only and can only open pre-separated and saved DCS2.eps files. When you open a TIFF it tells you to upgrade to separate images.

  • Check that your USB dongle is attached and the green light is lit.
  • Turn off Virus protection software because an update could be interfering with the dongle/driver communication.
  • Update dongle drivers. If your OS has been recently updated to Leopard or Vista you may need to update drivers. Read the style on the dongle case to see if you have a "SuperPro or Eve3" style dongle. Visit www.http://www.safenet-inc.com/support/tech/sentinel.asp

Issue: file not opening/separating - not a full color image.

Resolve: Change the file mode to RGB (proper) from cmyk. SPVR works in the RGB mode only.

Issue: Can't Write tif or can't Delete file:

Resolve: Both are Mac version save errors.

Update from version 2.0.1 to version 2.0.3. This is a FREE update that can be found on your installer CD in the Apple installer folder. Users of Tiger and Leopard should use version 2.0.3.

Known Issues

Issue: importing a separated file into Illustrator:

Resolve:

  • DCS2.eps files must be PLACED into a file and not "Opened". From the file menu choose PLACE.
  • EPS files must be "linked" so be sure to have "linked" checked in the PLACE window. If not then Illustrator will prompt you with a message telling you that EPS files must be linked, that they cannot be "opened or embedded" to please "place" the file using the "Link" option.

Issue: Illustrator displays a message saying "Support for high-resolution DCS content is...."

Resolve: Nothing to worry about, this does not apply to SPVR files.

Issue: Opening an SPVR file in Photoshop:

With the current version of SPVR some used still need to open a separated and saved file into Photoshop to do some post separation edits. Note that while the onscreen preview of the file is terrible (Photoshop fault and the reason we made SPVR a stand alone) the data is still high quality. Do not do any color adjustments, just erase or delete stray data as desired.

Save the file and import it to your favorite Illustration or Publishing program or print directly from Photoshop.

Printing DCS2 separations to a Postscript Laser Printer (blank pages):

Issue: Postscript printer is printing out blank pages.

Most true Postscript Printers such as the Xerox line of printers that use "Adobe PS" chips have no trouble printing separations, but others such as Xante Screenwriters and PS emulation printers such as HP, NewGen and GCC can print blank pages. These prints handle ASCII data better than universal Binary so a quick file conversion is needed.

Tip: When looking for a laser printer to work with your PS graphics applications remember that Adobe owns that language so purchase a printer that has Adobe chips and not a printer with PS Emulation (3rd party) chips. They may be great for general office use, but not for graphics.

Resolve: Open your SPVR DCS2.eps file in Photoshop and perform a "Save As...".

  • Choose DCS2 as the format and spot colors. Click Save
  • In the DCS 2.0 Format window choose. Preview: Tiff (8 bits/pixel), DSC: Single File with Color Composite (72 pixel/inch), Encoding: ASCII
  • Leave all other options unchecked and click OK
  • Now re-import (Place) the file into your Illustration or Publishing program and print your separations. All films print properly now. Please note that some Mac users may still see a very pixelated preview when they re-import due to this conversion but the separations will print clean.
